Confessions of a Dance Junkie

As I look back at my career as a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher, I am filled with joy and gratitude in knowing that God blessed me with talents and gifts that touched so many lives. In my earlier years, I excelled in dance and I achieved countless goals from learning this after school activity that turned into more than just an enjoyable pass time. I received scholarships, won several titles, trophies, and I eventually earned a living as a dancer. Only a small percentage of trained dancers embark on making a life time career in this art form. I am one of the lucky ones who was able to say to my childhood friends, “Yes, I’m still dancing”.

The Art of Dance expanded my Creativity.

The Art of Dance taught me Discipline and Commitment.

The Art of Dance pushed my Patience.

The Art of Dance made me Driven.

The Art of Dance taught me Perseverance

The Art of Dance deepened my Emotions.

The Art of Dance taught me How to Express myself, Without Saying a Word.

The Art of Dance made me Happy when I was Sad.

The Art of Dance sometimes drove me Mad and made me Cry.

The Art of Dance brought on Physical Injuries.

The Art of Dance helped me to Recover and Push through those injuries.

The Art of Dance had me make Sacrifices.

The Art of Dance taught me to be Strong.

The Art of Dance was Exhausting and Invigorating.

The Art of Dance requires Out of this World Passion.

The Art of Dance can bring an Audience to their Feet and Tears to their Eyes.

The Art of Dance is More than just Movement.

The Art of Dance is Grace and Poise.

The Art of Dance fed my Ego and made me Humble.

The Art of Dance gives reward that is Neither Monetary nor Measured.

The Art of Dance Drove me Crazy, yet I felt Sane.

The Art of Dance is Why I am sometimes Misunderstood.

The Art of Dance is not only about what I can Show, but what I can Share.

The Art of Dance Brought me Here to be Today.

The Art of Dance Formed who I am Today…I am a Dance Junkie.
